Town's reserves lost 4-1 to a Chelsea side that included Finnish striker Mikael Forssell at Portman Road on Tuesday night. The Blues had taken the lead through Dean McDonald, but the class of Forssell gave Chelsea the points.

Town's U18s drew 1-1 at Norwich City on Saturday morning at the Canaries' Colney training ground. Former Norwich trialist Danny Haynes scored the Blues' goal after 67 minutes.

Town lost their first game of 2004/05 3-2 at George Burley's Derby County despite being 2-1 up at the break. A penalty from Tommy Miller and a second from Dean Bowditch a minute later had put the Blues in front but goals from Marco Reich (2) and Inigo Idiakez won the game for the Rams.

Stand-in skipper Jason De Vos has been declared fit for Saturday's trip to Derby County, with regular skipper Jim Magilton again on the sidelines due to his thigh muscle tear. The Northern Irishman is due for a scan on the injury - which has kept out of Town's first three games - on Monday.

Town's community operation has become a charitable trust and will now be known as the Ipswich Town Education and Sports Trust (EAST). The club will be the first to fully integrate education and sport as part of a registered charity limited by guarantee.
